Defeated but our lads from little old Cornwall shouldn’t be too despondent!

Cornwall County Youth Team Manager Glynn Hooper asked his players minutes before they set off from Bisham Abbey on the final leg of their route to Cornwall’s first-ever final at this group level “Do the county proud, do yourselves proud!

Well, although defeat is always a bitter pill to swallow, they came so close and can certainly be so proud, not only of the way they played in the final, but over the whole of the season.

By reaching the final, this squad achieved something never done before by a Cornwall Under 18 side since the competition started in 1945.

This season’s journey started as far back as last summer, in early July, with the very first trial at Camborne’s Cornwall College. The selection process included further trials across the rest of the County in an attempt to ensure every player gets the opportunity.

The culmination of the “selection process” came with friendlies against Plymouth Argyle and a LWC Drinks Combination Representative side.

A season full of great memories and moments that will live with all those involved for ever.

The whole of Cornwall are so proud of the players and coaches and to those at the Cornwall County FA who made it happen.
